We are the Society of Physics Students (SPS) at NAU, a student-led organization dedicated to making physics more accessible, exciting, and hands-on for students of all experience levels.
After being shut down during the pandemic, we relaunched in Spring 2024, and our growth has been incredible! Through weekly meetings, faculty guest speakers, physics demos, and networking opportunities, we help students explore their passions and discover new pathways in STEM.
We’re here to open doors, build connections, and inspire future innovators.
Turning Curiosity Into Exploration
One of the most exciting parts of SPS is our educational trips, where members get to see real science in action.
Our most popular event last year was a trip to the Palo Verde Nuclear Reactor, which had our highest turnout ever! This year, we plan to visit:
- Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant
- USGS Flagstaff Science Campus
- UArizona Mirror Lab
- UArizona Quantum Science & Engineering Lab
These experiences help students:
- Connect with professionals in the field
- Explore potential careers
- See physics applied in the real world
