Who We Are 

We’re the Chess Club at Northern Arizona University, founded in Summer 2025 by a group of students who love the game and hold it close to our hearts. Our passion for chess goes beyond strategy and competition—it’s about connection, inclusion, and growth.

Whether you’re brand-new to chess or a seasoned player, you’ll find a welcoming space here. Our club is open to all NAU students and the wider Flagstaff area. We're building more than a club. We're building a community.

Why We’re Fundraising

To keep up with growing interest and to make chess accessible to more students, we need your help. We're raising funds to:

• Create an official NAU Chess Team to compete statewide
• Purchase new chess boards and clocks in order to host more meetups and tournaments
• Expand our reach so more students and community members can join

This support will help us create more opportunities for students to learn, lead, and connect—on and off the board.
