We are Northern Arizona University’s true lumberjacks, reflecting the roots of traditional forestry practices through Logging Sports. Our team at NAU was founded shortly after the School of Forestry was established in 1958. However, interest faded in the 1980’s and Logging Sports was disbanded until our reestablishment in 2008.
Now comprised of roughly 20 people, our team meets several days a week to hone our skills in competitive forestry applications, learn equipment maintenance/repair, and to spend time in the great outdoors. We compete against each other using crosscut saws, racing axes, chainsaws, and other tools to test our skills and knowledge in different disciplines. We welcome all who have an interest in learning about this sport.
Swing your #AxeofKindness and support the NAU Logging Sports Team today! Your contribution ensures our participation in the 2023 Choptoberfest for intercollegiate logging sports teams. This gift significantly influences our team's development and the creation of lasting memories. It covers both travel and competition expenses, enabling our Lumberjacks to proudly represent the university and gain experiences that will stay with us forever.
Your #AxeofKindess will have an immediate impact on Logging Sports Club members, the NAU student experience, and members of the communities we serve.
Curious. Passionate. Hardworking. Kind. You're a proud Lumberjack committed to NAU’s culture of care.
Every $30 will go towards a competitors fee for competitions that we get invited to over the year.
Help cover food costs for the Logging Sports Team members attending competitions across the West.
This will go towards supplies so that we can keep equipment up and running along with following safety out in the field.
We want everyone to have their own uniform. We wear hickory shirts, as they are traditional logging attire. This will go towards purchasing and embroidering a hickory shirt with our team logo.
Our members carpool to our competitions, so this will go towards the camping fees, hotels, Airbnbs, and fuel. We have traveled to Northern California, Colorado, Montana, and Northern Idaho. Help us get back this year!
Commemorate NAU's remarkable 125-year history and uphold the enduring Lumberjack Legacy by making a gift of $125 to this extraordinary student-led initiative! First 50 will get Pickle Ball paddles!
New gear can be expensive! We would love to be able to stay up to date on the items we have and be able to improve our competition performance. This will help buy and maintain the equipment for practice and competition, ensuring we are safe and ready to win!
