1 Day Left!

December 14, 2020

There is only one more day to donate to the Honors Capstone Grants initiative! We are so thankful for your generosity and support. These funds go directly to Honors students looking to make a difference with their projects.

One of our students, Christian, created an empirically supported Vegan cookbook. Her impressive research project and recipes were featured at the Honors Symposium and have gone on to support many people in their pursuit of clean eating and healthy mindfulness. Christian shares what the Honors Capstone meant to her below.

Thank you for your donations and continued support!

There is still time to donate!

December 10, 2020

With only five days left in our campaign, we celebrate additional great achievements of our Honors students!

In the past week, four NAU Honors students were selected for prestigious legislative internships in Spring 2021!

Nicole Campbell (Political Science ’21) will be working alongside the AZ Legislative House Democratic staff. Nicole hopes to pursue a career in politics and policy. Anson Naumann (Business Economics ’22)  and Chance Strawderman (Criminology and Criminal Justice, ’21)  will both be interning in AZ House Research. Both students are working towards possible futures in law. Clare Henry (Public Health ’21) will be interning with a senator in the Washington State Legislature. Clare aims to go to law school to work in public policy law.

We are so proud of these outstanding Honors students and their accomplishments. Thank you for your support and generosity towards their Honors Capstones. Help us meet our goal!

Thank you SO much!

October 19, 2020

Thank you!

We sincerely appreciate all of your encouragement and generous donations! With your help, we have raised $3525 and are 70% of the way towards our goal! Please continue to share our project and increase awareness.

You are helping students like Summer make an incredible impact in the community. Summer is planning to study under a Navajo medicine man to learn the traditions, medicinal practices, and ceremonies of the Navajo people. She hopes to ensure that the language and cultural practices of indigenous peoples are kept alive for future generations by completing an extensive research project and an apprenticeship.

I never thought that I would be able to try something like this is college. I never could think of anyway that traditional teachings from my Native American roots, especially a ceremony, could be merged and given credit. The Honors College encouraged me to take this path. Their willingness and openness to diversity welcomed me to embark on taking on a project like this. I always worried that my time at NAU would isolate me away from my Navajo way of life, but the Honors College has only encouraged me to embrace it while being away.
