Family Access, Communication, Transition and Support (FACTS) broadens college access for first-generation and underserved students by supporting their primary influencers — their families. Through Team College Bound, a five lesson curriculum, FACTS connects families to resources and information on college going, strengthening their confidence and highlighting the unique strengths and experiences they bring to help their student be successful through. FACTS emphasizes affordable and equitable pathways to higher education, making college more accessible for all.
Many families who participate in Team College Bound have never been to college and view the cost of college as the greatest barrier to supporting their child’s postsecondary pursuit. In addition, in this digital age, lack of access to technology can have huge impacts on college enrollment and retention. In an effort to close the digital divide and boost college access, FACTS identified laptops as an essential incentive and benefit to completing Team College Bound. By bridging the digital divide and easing financial burdens, we aim to empower students to reach their full potential through the transformative power of a college education.
In partnership with the Center for Native American and Indigenous Futures, FACTS Indigenized Team College Bound to ensure the most culturally responsive programming and pedagogy. In alignment with NAU’s Commitment to Indigenous Peoples, Team College Bound is striving to support enrollment, retention, and educational attainment of Native American and Indigenous students through community-based pre-college pathways.
We invite you to join us in supporting families through Team College Bound by contributing to our laptop and scholarship fund, which will directly support our next cohort of families for Indigenous Team College Bound launching in January 2025. Thank you for your support of this project. It only takes one person going to college to change the trajectory of a family for generations and you are helping to make it all possible.
