Empower Hispanic/Latine Youth in Media at NAU!
Join us in supporting the 2025 Hispanic/Latine Youth Media Workshop (H/LYMW) at NAU, a transformative 5-day experience for 25 high school students from across Arizona. From June 7-11, 2025, these students will immerse themselves in film and visual communication, living on the NAU campus, learning from School of Communication faculty, and working with Hispanic and Latine NAU college student mentors. Full scholarships, valued at $1,500 each, will be awarded to all 25 participants.
Modeled after NAU's long-running Indigenous Youth Media Workshop, which began in 2012, the H/LYMW was founded in 2024 as a two-day pilot with funds from NAU's President's Office.

Hands-on Learning: Workshop Activities
Explore the exciting opportunities awaiting students at the 2025 Hispanic/Latine Youth Media Workshop! Participants will engage in immersive activities including animation, zine design, film production, virtual reality, drone cinematography, and game design using professional-grade equipment. The workshop aims to inspire young Hispanic and Latine students to complete their high school education, see college as an achievable goal, and feel welcomed on the NAU campus. They will also have the chance to meet professional journalists like Univision multimedia reporter Hector Lagunas and AZ Family TV reporter Gibby Parra.
