The Elle Zizzi Memorial Scholarship in Theatre honors the extraordinary life of Elle Zizzi, a vibrant force in the NAU Theatre community. Established by the Department of Theatre, this scholarship supports Theatre Majors who embody intellectual curiosity, creativity, professionalism, spark, and community spirit.
Elle’s journey was marked by her commitment to learning and growth. She bravely explored various aspects of theatre, from acting to costume design and event management. Her enthusiasm and positivity brightened the lives of everyone around her—students, faculty, and staff alike.
Throughout her time at NAU, Elle was a dedicated leader and volunteer, known for her friendly demeanor and can-do attitude. She actively participated in events like the Great Survival Debate, where her organizational skills and love for community building shone through. A talented actor and emerging comedian, Elle was not only committed to her craft but also passionate about supporting others in their artistic journeys.
As a top scholarship recipient, she earned the R. Carlos Nakai scholarship along with notable awards like the Klonda Lynn and Seamus P. Dever scholarships. These honors were significant to her not just for the recognition, but also for the financial independence they provided. Elle's commitment to graduating with minimal debt showcased her determination and pride in achieving her goals while pursuing her passion for the arts.
In honoring Elle, we celebrate a life filled with joy, inspiration, and an unwavering commitment to community. Her light and spirit will forever be woven into the fabric of the NAU Theatre community. Join us in honoring the memory of this special individual and a true “ray of sunshine” with a gift of any size to this scholarship. “Elle had an intellectual curiosity that opened doors for her. She worked hard, bravely trying studies and emphases that challenged her from challenging roles, to costumes, to building scenery, helping to manage Event promotions to the Ethics Bowl and the Regents Cup. Whether on stage, in the shops, in the classroom, or in the Main Department Office, Elle brought a spirit that made everyone smile. This scholarship will ensure her legacy and light live on.” - Kathleen McGeever, Chair & Professor, NAU Theatre, Directing, and Performance
