Hello! I'm Bella Johnstone, a senior in the Honors College here at NAU, and I would love your help as I begin my capstone project!
As both a photographer and cosplayer, I have a deep passion for the body of work that I aim to create for this capstone. I’ve spent the past few years studying photography, constantly learning more and refining my art, and it is now something I do professionally. I have always been a writer as well, and my years as an English major have helped further develop my passion for storytelling. By combining these elements, I achieve both personal and career goals with this capstone, The Art of Storytelling Through Cosplay Photography. This work is a true passion project for me, something I pour my heart and soul into, and something that truly makes me proud. Cinematic storytelling through cosplay photography might sound niche, but every character you've ever loved in TV, films, books, and more each has a story to tell--it is my job to tell those stories through the medium of photography.
How Can You Help?
Photography is expensive! Beyond the equipment itself, many aren't aware of the costs associated with photoshoots, which tend to include gas money, flights, hotel costs, location and permit fees, and paying my models for their time. Photography is a labor of love, but as a creative project capstone, it's a hard thing to acquire funding for! There are not many dedicated opportunities to get funding for creative projects, so I turn to YOU for support!
Donations to this project will support a variety of photoshoots, such as an overnight trip to the Imperial Sand Dunes, the rental of an incredible bamboo garden, rental fees for a beautiful castle venue, and even a weekend trip to D.C. to photograph across the country! Being able to support my models is also incredibly important to me, so your donations will help me compensate everyone for their time, as many of these photoshoots are several hours long and require a lot of planning and prep work.
