ASNAU Equity and Access Fund

The Associated Students of Northern Arizona (ASNAU) is the undergraduate student government at Northern Arizona University. First organized in 1918, ASNAU exists to be the voice for students at the campus, local, state, and national levels. Every NAU student deserves the opportunity to succeed in their education. “Because of the student, we exist”.

Students have shown large concern for barriers presented to obtaining personal assistive devices and/or other forms of medical assistance. Last year's giving day ASNAU created a fund specifically to offer financial support to students needing assistive devices called the ASNAU Assistive Device Fund, as our team this year furthered our research we gained an understanding that aid to students is not limited to just assistive devices but other areas including psychological exams. The creation of this fund, ASNAU Equity and Access Fund, will provide students with the financial assistance necessary to purchase these costly devices and/or pay for these services. It is with high hopes that these contributions will assist their collegiate experience. ASNAU hopes to support a positive impact on education and transition into the workforce for those who choose to apply. 

NAU Statistics: 

4,903 unique students made initial requests for accommodations.

3,581 students were determined permanently eligible as an individuals with a disability and approved for accommodations.

133 students were determined to have a temporary condition that qualifies as a disability.

The applications will open once we reach the goal of $5,000. As the first part of the fund will be focused on medical assistive devices, exams, and services we have a hope that in the future this fund will be able to regular donations to other groups on campus like ASNAU's Community Care project that focuses on student wellness. Help us reach our goal and be the support that ALL students at NAU need! 

Support student ACCESSIBILITY

ASNAU would like to ask for your help with this project.  Gifts of any size will go toward elevating student accessibility at NAU by helping students to secure personal assistive devices such as hearing aids, cognitive aids, and mobility aids. Some funds may also be used to contribute toward evaluations to help students obtain accommodations for disabilities.  These gifts will ensure a more inclusive learning environment and success after graduation.

ASNAU

The primary purpose of ASNAU is to serve NAU as the representative student voice at the campus, local, state, and national levels. We are to become informed on every issue concerning Northern Arizona University and communicate that knowledge and information to the students.

To accomplish this, we must provide every opportunity for students to have their opinions heard by creating an atmosphere that seeks student input and student involvement. As the representative student body, we seek to promote NAU and its activities including but not limited to: Academics, Athletics, Special Events, Community Relations, and Student Activities.
