As an internationally acclaimed ceramics program, the NAU School of Art + Design Ceramics Program teaches avant-garde techniques, helping Lumberjacks flourish in the studio art program. To advance our inspiring faculty artists, alumni Linda Butler, ’86, and Jay Butler, ’86, are matching donations up to $100,000 to create a Distinguished Professorship in Ceramics.
NAU aspires to expand the internationally acclaimed NAU School of Art + Design Ceramics Program to serve more students and attract more budding artists to the program. With seven classes to choose from, students can learn traditional and avant-garde techniques and firing processes from working faculty artists and renowned visiting artists at one of the largest wood-fired kiln facilities in the country. Today, the program is at capacity with approximately 140 students, leaving a waiting list of more than 20 students in each section. This causes students to pursue ceramics at the local community college instead of NAU.
A Distinguished Professorship within the NAU School of Art + Design Ceramics Program increases the number of opportunities for students to join the program and learn from renowned faculty. By supporting this elite faculty position, you help bring new talents and perspectives to NAU fostering an environment for students to learn, grow, and leave a vibrant and expressive mark on the world.
Thanks to Linda and Jay Butler, donations will be matched, $1 for $1, up to $100,000 a year for the next three years to fulfill this essential role. Your gift today will make a difference in the lives of artists and ensure Lumberjacks can thrive in the ceramics program.
