The NAU student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers is ready to start designing their 2022 concrete canoe! As a team, we will design a concrete canoe to compete against other colleges in the annual Concrete Canoe Competition, taking place at the Intermountain Southwest Competition in Las Vegas.
Designing a concrete canoe for competition requires teamwork and patience. As a team, we gain hands-on and real world experience through trial and error. It takes leadership and persistence to create the desired concrete mix for our canoe.
Your support helps us prepare the perfect concrete canoe, support our mentee program, and ultimately gives us an opportunity for professional development.
We need your support to help cover the costs to design our canoe and support our mentee program development. With multiple concrete mix trials, we need a lot of supplies to test and perfect our mix. These materials help us to create the best concrete possible. We are working throughout the fall semester to prepare our team for competition.
Your gift allows students to participate in the Pacific Southwest Conference.

This competition helps us build our team bond and allows us to test our design against 11 other college teams. We are ranked in five different categories: technical proposal, technical presentation, final product prototype, race demonstration, and enhanced focus areas report. The conference also connects us with other aspiring civil engineers and encourages us to network with our peers. Last year we ranked fourth overall. Your support will help cover mix design costs, conference registration, travel, a canoe mold, and new equipment for future canoe teams to benefit from.
