Support the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic
The NAU Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic provides evaluation and therapy services for children and adults with communication and swallowing disorders such as stuttering, aphasia, receptive and expressive language delays, speech disorders, feeding issues, and more. Often these services are not covered by insurance and can be costly for a patient to pay out-of-pocket. The clinic provides reduced and no cost services to remove financial barriers that may prevent an individual from receiving much-needed intervention. Your donation supports these client clinic scholarships.
Everyone deserves the right to communicate their hopes, dreams, and desires to others.
Communication disorders can be debilitating to an individual. The inability to communicate effectively can cause social and emotional difficulties, interfere with abilities to form and maintain relationships, cause social isolation and embarrassment, and often limit job prospects, and advancement. Communication disorders in children, can also limit access to academic opportunities, can lead to poor academic performance, and/or may be the cause of bullying and social isolation. Financial constraints should not be the limiting factor for individuals who have difficulty communicating effectively. Everyone deserves access to the tools to support effective communication.
The NAU Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic is available to individuals of all ages—newborns to the elderly. Services are provided by graduate student clinicians working toward earning their master’s degrees in Clinical Speech-Language Pathology, in person and through telepractice. The graduate clinicians evaluate and treat clients under the direct supervision of clinical faculty certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and board licensed in Arizona and California.
"We have participated in speech (therapy) for the past three semesters and are impressed not only with the speech students, but the NAU Speech-Language-Hearing program in general. The NAU students work hard to meet my son's needs in a way that makes him excited to attend lessons every week. I have also been thankful for Dr. Murray's oversight and the other professors. We are so happy to be part of the NAU Speech family!"
